On March 31, local members of the Youth Advisory Board (YAB), a year round spin off of the Orange County Youth Leadership Academy, assembled under the guidance of artists at the Warwick Valley Community Center, to be a part of the work of other artists and children upcycling materials into tree sculptures in preparation for the TreeCycle 2017 project.The TreeCycle and Makers Market, sponsored by Wickham Works, was held April on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30, at Wickham Woodland Manor, 255 State School Road, on the grounds of the former Mid Orange Correctional Facility.Wickham Works, located in Wickham Woods, is part of Community 2000.The stated mission on the organization Website is to enrich our community by providing a workspace and materials exchange where new and experienced makers can learn, collaborate, offer workshops, and spark new business opportunities.Membership offers a materials exchange where serviceable objects and materials can be made available for reuse, repurposing or resale along with a learning center and work areas.The TreeCycle and Makers Market event, a collaborative Community Arts Project made possible with funds from the Orange County Arts Council 10 year anniversary Community Arts Grants program, involved volunteers working with local artists to turn upcycled material into tree sculptures.ou can make treasures out of trash,?said Wickham Works Director Melissa Shaw Smith.In addition to the tree sculptures the celebration included children activities and a Spring Makers Market, indoors and outdoors, with local vendors, blacksmiths, glassblowers and other artists featuring their handcrafted products.6 photo(s)Album ID: 2133004]]>The Second Annual Taste of Vernon took place on Monday, May 1, 2017.
